For this summer exhibition in August, Colette Nouvel-Rousselot, Mayor of Touques and the municipality of Touques, welcome the sculptor Bee Pellerin and Florence Lemiegre.
The balance is multiple, such is the essence of this exhibition “Equilibrium” which brings together the two artists.
A captivating and singular encounter between two sculptors with affirmed artistic universes and writings who dialogue together for the first time and explore the tension between ideas and creation, color and form, matter and expression. The diversity of the works presented will allow to question the complexity of the subject.
This theme of balance obviously resonates with the creations of the ceramic artist Florence Lemiegre who writes about her work: “My ceramic sculptures differ in their plastic expressions and sometimes also in their genesis, in terms of artistic approach. However, they present many links, which by intertwining, are embodied in a common creative essence. It is, fundamentally, a research on balance and imbalance, itself intertwined with various explorations and experiments where the material gives life to the color as well as to emotional vibrations. This work feeds my imagination, offe ring me a wide spectrum of inspiration: always present in the background, it connects each of my worlds with a common thread.
Three of the artist’s universes will be discovered during the exhibition “ É Q U I L I B R E S ” :
“Culbutos“ and “Culbutos Serendipity“, with their clean lines and shapes, sway, swing, and hesitate before finding an anchor point. Through these sculptures, Florence Lemiegre explores stability and instability, strength and fragility, to better highlight the duality inherent in our wounds, as well as in our rebirths. These works are also allegorical, as a symbolic graphic representation of our potential for resilience.
The universe of “Moons” and “Noli me tangere“, “Noli me tangere Pistils” allows us to initiate a dialogue on biodiversity and our relationship to nature. It crystallizes the unspeakable beauty of our planet, both dreamlike and strong. Beauty which however conceals impalpable wounds and cracks.
From the entrails of these sculptures escape sometimes of tiny vibrations and oscillations. Like a silent melody, almost interior, they are similar to imperceptible breaths: the work of earthenware or stoneware then seems to take life. Testifying to the fertility, but also to the vulnerability of our earth and its oceans, it finally proposes to tell us a story. Without doubt the one where nature regains its rights and the balance of all its ecosystems.
