EXHIBITION “GRÈVE BLANCHE JUSQU’À L’ESTRAN” – Notre-Dame Chapel – Barbe Island – Lyon – France
• 23 June to 17 July 2022
• Opening on Thursday 23 June from 6pm to 9pm
• Group exhibition
For this second edition, the gallery owner and curator Françoise Souchaud presents for the first time the works of Florence Lemiegre. A dozen of her creations from her “Noli me tangere” collection will be on display in the magnificent Notre-Dame Chapel.
…”There are works of art that have the purity of mineral concretions from the deep sea. They have the appearance of living organisms, fixed to their nourishing substratum, with forms that are naturally as extravagant as they are harmonious, out of time and out of the earth’s atmosphere… The white beach and the foreshore, it is the smell of kelp, the immortelle of the dunes, the rustling hair, the restarting of the world, and this feeling of immense freedom, of the first evidence, of dazzling clarity. It is the promise of water to earthly life. It is the offering of the oceans, from whose ephemeral shelter man watches for the miraculous stranding, as a pledge of the pact he has sealed with the sea since the beginning of time. These works of art (textiles, wicker, ceramics, blown glass, photography, paper volumes, drawings) are all there, offered to the light of the Sun.
