PONTOISE BIENNIAL ART ACTUEL 2024 – Pontoise – Île-de-France – France

• November 4 to 10, 2024
• Opening November 7, 6pm

Stéphanie Von Euw, Mayor of Pontoise and Île-de-France regional councillor, Patrick Morcello, deputy mayor in charge of art, cultural life and events, and Jean Villain, exhibition curator, are pleased to invite you to the opening of the Biennale de Pontoise Art Actuel 2024, Thursday, November 7 at 6pm.

Following the success of the first edition in 2022, which won over a large number of visitors, Pontoise City of Art and History and the 2A.ArtActuel association are offering a new journey through the discovery of over 100 works.

Taking place at the Dôme, Place de l’Hôtel de Ville in Pontoise, from Monday November 4 to Sunday November 7, the exhibition invites you to a captivating and singular encounter with thirty artists whose universes and writings are unmistakably their own. Together for the first time, they explore the tension between ideas and creation, color and form, material and expression. The diversity of the works presented will allow us to question the richness of contemporary art.

For this artistic event, sculptor and ceramist Florence Lemiegre presents three Serendipity Culbutos, sculptures designed and created in her Jules Verne studio in Assigny, Normandy. In particular, she is exhibiting the spectacular “Culbutos Serendipity Snow Bloom”, in sandstone clay and naked Raku firing.

The public can also discover her sculptures “Culbutos Serendipity Dansons maintenant!” and “Culbutos Serendipity Harmonie”.

The artist will be present at the opening and every afternoon for the duration of the event.

The artist talks about her “Serendipity Cubutos” universe:

The question of balance and imbalance links each of my universes with a common thread. It’s inseparable from all my work, which is itself intertwined with various explorations and experiments where matter gives life to color and emotional vibrations. Each of my creations involves this question, which is also reflected in the result of a search for equivalence and balance between color and sculptural values, and contrasting materials. Indeed, my creations are very often punctuated by a profusion of jovial, dynamic colors, contrasting smoky blacks with shimmering, vibrant glazes.  “The Culbutos Serendipity” are in line with the continuity of my artistic approach.
